Contemplation cannot be taught, but we can nurture the ways that open us to the experience.
It is the fulfilment of the longing for the realisation of the ‘something other’, the Real, the Divine.
It is to be con-templum ‘in the temple’ or ‘at one with the holy’.
For the contemplative, the primary source of faith and action in the world is this unifying relationship.
The Kentigern School has been created by the Sacred Space Foundation with the support of the Diocese of Carlisle, and is now in its fourth year. The programme comprises two weekend intensives, with self-directed learning, the opportunity for group mentoring and 1-1 spiritual direction in between.
The School is very experiential and participants benefit from being together as a soul community for the residential retreat weekends. However, we recognise that time away is not always possible for some seekers and we are looking at ways of providing at least some of the teachings on-line, in small group and 1-1 sessions, using material drawn from Heartfullness.
